“What is the point of having free will if one cannot occasionally spit in the eye of destiny?”
"A valued point youngling." Baylon responded in thought as they flew over the Eternia border and towards Ever-Autumn Forest, the goddess' domain that lived up to its name. It was an exclusive place, always in fall, bright Orange leaves gave the forest a beautiful unique colour and was one example as to how the seasons were frozen due to the chaotic even thousands of years ago.
She dove down to make a landing by her stone shrine, laying Tyarnach softly against the leaves and grass as well depositing Kee before taking back to the sky so that she could land securely. She perched on her shrine before reverting to her natural wolf form. Bounding down from the large rocks she sat before the two with a stubborn expression. "If the creator gave you a vision, one I personally was not aware of, then perhaps your destinies are entwined. I figured if he was important enough that you'd risk your life for him. I might as well save him."
Baylons shrine was a hotspot of magical energy that brought a tranquil peace to the forest, enhancing ones ability to focus... And, allowing Kee to restore her drained strength.
Despite how lovely everything appeared from up in the sky, and how grateful she was for Baylon's rescuing them, she was especially happy to be back on solid ground. She shook herself out and immediately laid down in the grass next to Tyarnach, folding her legs up under her body. As the goddess was changing shape, Kee inspected the blue beast lightly, nudging him with her cold black nose before leaving him be. He seemed likely to recover, especially in such a protected place as the shrine.
"I do appreciate it," She told Baylon quietly. "He is important, I just, I don't know in what way yet. But you're wise, and older than I am. Maybe you know? Isa said he was an elf once, like her. In my vision, I saw an elf too, one with white hair. Strong blood... I don't know if he was always called Tyarnach or really much else, I'm still trying to piece together the relevant facts. But did you know white-haired elves?" It was easier to think, there in the forest, but the puzzle was still a confusing one, half of the pieces hidden from her sight.
The wolf stretched out, her lone dark feathered wings folded beside her and flexed as she though of Kee's question. "Hmm," she sighed in deep thought, "I'm not to sure, yes I know of the silver haired elves, talented diplomats and warriors. In fact..." Her head turned to the unconscious mutt who lay in the grass, breathing at a steady rate as if he couldn't feel his broken bones.
"Importing was a dangerous trade during the war, anything from livestock to vegetables was often stolen by those who lived below. We did not deny them food and offered to help them but some opportunistic people took it upon themselves to kidnap, steal livestock and valuable magical artifacts. This was during the sudden rise of slavery, small, weakened colonies were often ransacked by the Citadel who, while we fought for freedom, they enslaved and picked on the weak. Lots of civilizations were wiped to extinction... Though if your friend is truly linked to the ancient elves, he may be their missing heir. That would be a coincidence though, no?"
Kee too was watching Tyarnach as she listened, thinking hard on how it might fit with the many images she had been shown. "I wouldn't put it past Cyburn to have sought out the heir of an old race and used him as his pet. He was exactly that cruel. I don't know if he's a key to purifying the corrupt forest or if the Creator was just giving me another task. I like to think it's all connected." The spirit looked over at Baylon. "Are his people extinct, or are they just in hiding, waiting for their heir to come back? And even if he is the heir, how can I help him? Dark magic made him into what he is now, breaking a spell like this seems like it would be complicated, maybe even painful for him." Her ears drooped and she looked down at the grass, nosing around in it with a tiny sigh.
"How long do I spend feeling like I'm constantly lost, for that matter? I don't think there's been a step I've made so far where I didn't have to ask somebody what was next. I thought if I followed my calling to the corruption, everything would just fall in place. Instead, I'm more lost than I've ever been."
Baylon observed the spirit's frustration, she could relate to and understand what she was going through. "Trust in the Creator's visions but do not feel as though they are of the most urgency, yes they are important tasks but he does not expect you to complete them in a day. I feel that you are looking for simple answers to complicated questions." She huffed and crossed her paws.
"What order did you see these visions in, I will try to help you decipher but it will be up to you to decide how you go about dealing with them."
