"To be honest, Tyarnach, I don't know his motivations very well. I'm... well, I'm not stupid, but I suppose I admit that I've always been sort of naive," She glanced up at him, then away, as if ashamed. "I don't comprehend the levels of greed and the lack of love or care people like him can have. It might benefit me if I could - not because I want to be like that, but so I could at least give you better answers. In the end, there's not much that I know. Perhaps he did it as a blow to your people. Perhaps he just wanted the pleasure of robbing a strong, young boy from his family and turning him into something bestial in nature. I hope we find out, for the sake of closure, but I don't know why anybody would want to do that to another living being. It's cruel. Yet, somehow, despite all you've been through, you've turned out to be a good person. Despite all the odds against you. He didn't manage to stomp that out."

"I do as I'm told, there is no point in complicating things with emotions. Master Cyburn did not permit us to have them, not in his presence." He didn't consider himself a monster, nor violent by nature, simply obedient. "I'm sorry you were stuck with sorting out my life, even if the god willed it. I understand I am not the most affectionate or trusting beast around, and although I don't consider us friends, that doesn't mean I do not enjoy your company, spirit "

"Well, he may have tried. You're free from him now, though, and you're allowed to have feelings. It's not about keeping things simple. The things we feel teach us more about ourselves. Perhaps you'll get used to being able to express yourself without fear of repercussion. Don't be sorry. I do my duty, and I trust the Creator. Besides, it's more than just your life. You are part of a bigger picture, I just don't know how yet. Or what the picture is. Or why."
Laughing at the absurdity of it, and because she was exhausted to the point that everything seemed a little humorous, Kee reached out and patted him gently on the back of the neck. "I already know the next step in this long journey, but before any of that, I need sleep. I suspect you do as well, and even if you're restless, your body would appreciate the attempt at a nap at the very least. Healing works faster when you're asleep. We'll have to find food, too, at some point."

"I agree." He nodded to Kee and turned to walk back towards the shrine where the fresh air was at it's best. "There's no point in rushing it I guess, though master will not be pleased. It's a serious crime with a less than pleasant punishment. Is there slavery in Eternia?" Tyarnach asked as he looked back to her.

She followed him, admiring the beauty of the shrine with a sleepy half-smile. Being away from the corruption felt wonderful, almost like a warm bath after rolling in soot and mud for a long time. "He isn't your master anymore, Tyarnach. You're free, you know. Cyburn may not even be alive, considering the wounds Baylon gave him. Even if he is alive..." She shook her head and sighed quietly. "There are heavy punishments for it, I know that much. Things aren't perfect here, I'm sure some people still try, but it's not something one can merely do on the street. People are free here. You're free."

"I'm not truly free. The laws here won't change that, not if I'm shot dead on sight." Tyarnach argued with a frustrated frown. "And if he was dead, if he was really controlling me, wouldn't I be free? I still feel a desire to turn back, but I know doing so would be a terrifying ordeal."

"The Goddess mentioned that you might become frightened as Cyburn's influence over you wanes. Maybe that's true - I can't begin to understand it. But," She reached out to touch his shoulder, especially as they were close enough to the shrine now, and sat down on the ground to be at eye-level with him. "I can help. If things become too confusing and you feel overwhelmed, I hope you'll let me give you aid. Law may not change things, but I will protect you as much as I can, and you will be free in all ways eventually. Here in Eternia, I am more powerful than I ever was near the Citadel. I will be at full strength before long."

"You better learn how to take advantage of that strength then." He smiled faintly. "I do not feel afraid, not really. Right now there's just this nag in my head telling me that being here is wrong. Though I understand master is not a kind person, perhaps you are right about the control. the further away I am from him the more I have the ability to think and talk open mindedly. For example, here I am conversing, like the first time we met."

"I hope to do so, but even then, I'm glad to have you here. My strength isn't at all in fighting, and I realize it... may be uncomfortably necessary for our journey," She finished with a tiny sigh. "I'm glad you aren't afraid. This is bound to be a confusing trip in the end, but it'll be far better with your mind clear and your decisions your own." Smiling tiredly at the blue beast, Kee cupped his face in her hands and playfully squished his face towards his snout. "You're much kinder now than when we first met. I enjoy it. Now, would you like to rest, puppy?"

The so called puppy was quick to bare his teeth, what the neck was this woman doing, he was a proud beast not a cute and cuddly animal that lived to have its face pulled. "I really do not enjoy this, spirit. Please stop." He wasn't exactly stern or serious about his warning. "And I am not a puppy, I am an elven heir apparently."

"You let Isa call you puppy," Kee pointed out with a small pout, ceasing the squishing of his face and teasing him by mimicking the way he bared his teeth, though hers were human-like and blunt, and thus not likely to be intimidating to anybody that didn't have an irrational fear of enamel. She didn't take the warning all that seriously, and leaned in to bite him on the nose with a muffled snickering. Being away from the corruption had returned some of her playful nature, and it was amplified by her exhaustion.

His heavy paws were quick to come up and push her face away, "that ghost child can call me whatever she wants, and what do you think you're doing?" He seemed disgruntled at the overwhelming affection that Kee put on him and the face biting was enough. "If you're trying to commune with me in my language that's really not how it works, I could still eat you, you know."

Kee didn't protest being shoved, but laughed and acceded, leaning back on her haunches until she was fully sitting on her rear in the grass. "No, not quite. Besides, I don't really need to do that. Part of being tied to nature is that I can understand most beast languages and communicate with them in a variety of ways. Speech is preferable for a sentient being, naturally, but my voice can be telepathic for, say, a squirrel or owl. But I'd really prefer if you didn't eat me. I suspect you'll need to, ah, hunt for something to eat when the time comes? I don't eat meat much, only if there's no other option."

"I can tell, Master Cyburn could not understand me, nor could the spiders." He explained, stretching his aching, healing bones before laying down. "And yes, at some point. Though I am used to going without, I know to take only what I need to survive. A bear for example is too much but a rabbit would do me just fine."

"There's no need for you to let yourself go hungry in this place. You would only get stronger if you were well-fed. I don't expect you to want to eat a bear," She said with a small laugh, "But don't feel the need to avoid eating if you're hungry." Kee lay in the leaves on her side, resting her head on her arms and looking over at Tyarnach with a faint smile. "Just do me a kindness and make death swift for whatever it is you decide to eat. I would hate to feel their suffering."
