"I have a theory on that. I don't know if I can test it again or prove it to you," She finally faced him and sighed as she explained, "Cyburn is a mage, and I have no doubt that part of the reason you're so compelled to obey his word is because of some magical influence over you. I think it was the Creator's rain that washed it away, freed you... for a bit, anyway. I don't know if I'm right, it's only a feeling. I offered to go with you now because I'm afraid of what he'll do to you if you return without a prize, and because I don't think I can fight him off and protect the forest a second time without help. At least this way, he might be encouraged not to return to the forest. He isn't a fool, he must know that if I'm kept away, it'll revert to its previous state."

Her theory sounded somewhat reasonable, after all it did put out the fire Cyburn caused and mage fire burned stronger than wild fires and for it to be put out by a light shower must have been something more powerful. But his mind still fought the thought of freedom. "So, you'll return willingly with me to the Citadel? I cannot say what he'd do with you however, you seemed to have a good idea before."

"I'm familiar with what humans tend to do with spirits when they get their hands on them. He isn't the first, nor the most creative, and the stories have been passed down. I'll go... If you'll let me try something first. Let me pray again, and see if the Creator will answer. If I'm wrong or if he doesn't answer, you won't have lost anything." She did not want to be wrong, naturally. Captivity wasn't high on her list of things she enjoyed, but it seemed to be the safest thing she could do while still protecting the forest and making sure Cyburn didn't maim Tyarnach with punishments.
"Even if I'm right and you truly want to be his slave, you'll be free to make that decision. You win either way."

"How many prayers do you think the dead God can answer?" Tyarnach asked, not expecting Mystic to be generous with his power. Everyone knew that the Creator rarely answered pleas for help and twice in one day would be unbelievable.

"He isn't dead, and I'm not expecting him to answer. But I am going to hope beyond all hope, and even if he can't do anything about it, then at least I will be able to say I tried. I know better than to demand or even expect it, I just... want to try." She felt foolish already, not for her faith in all of it but for her hopeless optimism. She had received a miracle once already, for something much more significant. Taking Tyarnach's doubt as a sign he wouldn't mind, though, she went to the shrine. Yes, it was stuck in a corrupt and half-dead land, but part of her also hoped that somehow the nature of it would help.
Kneeling in damp soil, she clasped her hands and lowered her head. Her voice was less than a whisper, "Forgive me, I know I asked already for your help. It's just, I don't know what else to do to help him. He saved my life, thanks to you, but it didn't last. I don't need rain, I... I need your guidance, I need something I can do, surely there must be something. Please, Creator, is there something I can do, something I'm not seeing? Please, show me what to do next. I'm lost," She admitted quietly. It was the truth - her decision to be taken to Cyburn was a desperate attempt to sacrifice her freedom for the sake of the forest, and she had no guarantee that it would work. With the spiders injured and the one who saved her now full of doubt and unwilling (or unable) to seize freedom, she was baffled about what direction to go in.

Tyarnach watched with a skeptical expression and returned to sitting while Kee made a prayer at the shrine. If it was anywhere else perhaps it wouldn't have worked but the wide area around the shrine became sheltered with a cool, calming breeze.
While there were no words, nothing visible to anyone else that made the God's work visible, he did indeed heed her call. The spirit's mind would be calmed by the breeze, allowing various images to enter her imagination. The first was of a land purified, her forest green and full of life, the vision spanding across the ocean showing an ancient city of elven people and transparent silhouette of a young man with white hair, flames of the city slowly dissipating as the figure's opacity grew stronger.
Each scene came in short five second bursts, but the two were not all, faster showed visions of various locations around the world, most notably were the colourful places in Eternia. From forest lakes, to desert lands lost in time right back down to God's Lost Cavern where the horrible Scale resided. But last of all was the Citadel, another silhouette stood in what seemed to be the foyer of a cruel looking castle, it was purely white unlike the elven silhouette and wide shapes spread from the blur creating wings, legs, a long neck and what seemed to be a tail before it's calming colour turned a poisonous black, the doors to the keep opened wide before the creature let out such a frightening roar that Kee would be able to hear it as if it were before her.
As the roar sounded, Mystic's guidance seemed to have come to and end and the wind died down slowly.

Focusing on the images that flashed through her mind was an enormous task - they weren't natural thoughts, and did not exist physically, but she got over her confusion quickly as she realized what she was seeing. Her eyes were shut to make it easier to focus, but even then her head began to throb with pain. As the scenes changed, she did her best to follow along. The roar startled her out of her position, leaping back and scampering a foot or two across the dirt before she realized it was gone and that her eyes had opened, staring up at the sky in confusion.
It wasn't the answer she expected, but given that up until that point in her life she had gotten along without contact with the god, it was more than enough to have an answer at all. She shakily whispered her thanks to the deity and began to get up, legs trembling slightly with adrenaline. "Well," She spoke to Tyarnach in a quiet but steady tone, "If we're going to go, we should get on before it becomes any darker."

Her sudden fearful movement did startle him and he stared at her somewhat curiously. "Did the Creator perhaps tell you to piss off? You looked as if you saw a ghost." He would have laughed if he had found it funny but agreed to move on, heading back along the path where Cyburn had fled, using his developed sense of smell to guide them all while expecting the nature spirit to follow.

"No, he did the opposite. He showed me things." While she could not say for sure what each image had meant, Kee was forming some suspicions already. As they began to walk, she briefly entertained the thought of running, to make him at least work for his victory, but decided quickly against it. "You have no problem doing this, then? You know what he'll do to me, and you know he won't be grateful. It won't be as easy to undo once I'm in his grasp."

"Had he caught you before it would not have been different. I'm only doing my duty." Tyarnach answered back. At least he'd be fit, it took four days to reach the Citadel by foot and he had already made this journey twice this month.
He wasn't stupid he had been with his master to catch free prey before and at some point he knew to save his energy incase he needed to bring her down.

"The difference is that you stopped him," She reminded him, but knew she was beginning to sound repetitious. It wasn't that she could blame him - more than ever she felt assured that it was the rain that had freed his mind, and unless she could find some other alternative, he would remain that way.
Ordinarily she would've found something to talk about in an effort to be friendly, but the visions had put her in a rare mood for quiet and introspection. She was trying to pick them apart and discover their meaning, particularly the second and last. When she did speak up, it was to ask rather abruptly, "Have you ever seen or met with elves? You fight a lot of things in the Citadel, you must've seen a lot of different creatures."

"I told you before, there's many different slaves in the Citadel, elves are a common one. I assume because their population was so wide spread and many survived after the great calamity thousands of years ago. But with no refuge or magic to draw on they were forced to their knees by humans and the like. They're generally peaceful and very concerned for their own which is why I'm assuming, they were crushed." Tyarnach informed the spirit as he led her beyond the clearing.
"No one likes a slave with the ability to manipulate the elements so those are often eradicated, but ones with a placid nature make for good servants, beast masters and errand runners. I've killed plenty, I remember one time a few attempted to start a riot with the help of other races, several others and I were unleashed on their throats."

Kee shook her head in disapproval of the violence, furrowing her brow. "That's awful. I can't see why people would want to live in the Citadel. I can't see why they would approve of using other living creatures as something lower than cattle. Using their ability to care for each other against them, then getting rid of the ones that have the best chance of fighting for their own freedom? It's not just greed. You need a certain darkness in you to be willing to use someone like that." Her quiet mood turned foul quite quickly as she began to dwell on just where they were headed.
"How does he expect to keep me bound, exactly? If he depletes my power to keep me in line, I won't be able to do anything valuable. If he does let me keep my power, what's to stop me from growing bacteria in every potable water source I can find and drawing every angry insect in the area to him?" As someone who had never actively experienced torture, she of course couldn't help but underestimate the motivation that came with pain.

Tyarnach shrugged it off as they began to walk beyond the dirt road, nothing but the odd scorched tree here and there and tall dry grass lay ahead. Making it a good hiding spot for snakes and large carnivores such as saber toothed cats. "Its just how things are, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. They'd become corrupted otherwise, which is generally a more painful way to die than being slaughtered like livestock. Its also a bigger pain to everyone else, and enslaving them means the higher races are able to utilize them as the first wall of defence should corruption break through. Stabilizing their own survival."
"Dont underestimate the master's ways. You saw his power at its weakest. Those fireballs are a measly basic spell that even children can conjure. He uses fear and manipulation to control his foes and unruly pets. You're from top side so you've probably never experienced dark magic."

"I don't plan to make it easy for him," She replied stubbornly. She realized she was in for some pain when she promised such things, but as she had no real experience with it, she also had a naive sort of confidence to go with it. She didn't expect to best Cyburn and convince him to release her, she simply felt certain she would have the stamina to make his life at least irritating when it came to dealing with her.
"Using slaves as fodder to the corruption, when they're already used for hard labor and more. That isn't an excusable act, Tyarnach. Corruption is a horrible fate, and I don't wish it on them, but slavery isn't a kinder or merciful act. It's purely selfish, they aren't interested at all in sparing anybody from anything. What good is power when you have to climb over everyone's backs to get it? When you use it only to fuel your own desires?" Once more she shook her head and added quietly, "It's almost unholy, the way they act. I wish they could all be made to see that."
