"Magic that many of them, on this side of world, use for horrible things," She stated in a quiet, bitter tone. "And instead of being charitable and finding a way to co-exist, they hoard these giant homes for themselves, while I assume their slaves live in tiny rooms, packed together?" The more she saw and thought about it, the more upset she became. "If the city becomes purified and people from Eternia come to this side, what will they do?"
She did not, of course, perk up even when he seemed to know at last where they were going. She simply added, "Don't answer that," In a weary tone. "Tell me what I'm in for if I'm to stay at your master's home."

"The housing of slaves vary from master to master, estate to estate. Many of the communal homes, the giant ones, were knocked down and rebuilt at suitable heights. The remaining ones have been turned into factories, orphanages and such like that. Some slaves are entitled to their own rooms living with three to four others in rather good conditions. Others are forced into small spaces together though that is more common in hoarders."
He sat somewhere between all that, he wasn't fortunate to have a room, none of the slaves in his master's household were, instead his living quarters were limited to a cold dark cell beneath the house that was secured so tightly at night that not even Cyburn's wife knew where the keys were. But he wasn't cramped.
Tyarnach stopped out the front of the mansions' stone path, the hedges around the house and yard were perfectly trimmed and strange garden ornaments could be seen in the front yard. Though as nice as it was, nothing was more unsettling than the lights on in the house and the sound of arguing upstairs. His ears dropped a little and he answered Kee's question. "I cannot say. Spirits are rare so you needn't worry about being slaughtered for meat. But that makes you valuable, he might sell you off or break you. Regardless if you're on his bad side it will hurt, and even if you're not, expect pain and the inability to have your wounds and broken bones fixed until he permits it."

"Unless he drains me of my magic, he'll have no choice but to let me heal. I can't stop my own body from doing what comes naturally, and my nature is renewal, as you've seen. Though somehow I wouldn't be surprised if he tried to control that," She added beneath her breath with a sigh. Hearing the arguing made her hesitate, and she looked down at the blue beast. "I know you're not very fond of me, at least I don't think you are. But I hope he doesn't try to sell me, if only so I can have a familiar face through this." She would have patted him if she thought he might enjoy the gesture.
"Do we go in, then? Or must we wait for him to come down and retrieve you?"

"He has methods." Tyarnach whispered, "please don't think you'll win against him through defiance because you won't." His tone was something of concern it's not like he wanted to see her get hurt, but he was gravely concerned about what lay ahead.
"He won't know we're here. I'd have to approach, not like there's anything I can say to him, he doesn't understand me."

"Right," Kee huffed quietly, forgetting for the moment that her understanding of beasts was not extended to others. It certainly made her feel Cyburn's cruelty more than ever - he couldn't even understand his 'pet' or get to know him. "Then tell me what you'd like to say to him. I can understand you in any shape, and I can speak to him in this one." She gestured at her bipedal form. "That is, unless you'd prefer him to try to guess at your intentions in favor of my silence."

"I only wish to apologize but the fact we talk is something I'd be punished for. I only do so because I know he cannot understand, and I would feel much pain if I could not speak with someone." It was one of the few things Cyburn's blue beast could take actual, harmless pleasure in.
He hesitated in approaching the door but after a few moments he did. He didn't have the ability to knock so instead he tapped his metal claws against its hard surface, cautious nor to mark his master's estate.
The arguing continued upstairs but someone did arrive to fetch the door, deep brown eyes peered through the opening before eventually allowing the door to open. She was a young girl, maybe seven, no one really knew, nor did anyone care. "Puppy?" She whispered looking around behind her before quickly touching Tyarn's wet nose and patting his forehead. "Quick, I hear them argue about you."
As small and young as this elven girl was, she had the heart to help others as best she could and invited the two inside, somewhat amazed by Kee's foreign appearance. Though the look of amazement was in her eyes and on her expression she placed a finger to her lips and closed the door behind them. "Shhh, don't let him see you. Master is not like guests." Her poor English was directed at the spirit in warning.

If she were not already angry at Cyburn's keeping of slaves and his treatment of Tyarnach, seeing a small child in the household would have done it. As it was, for several long seconds the spirit could not speak, for fear that the rage at his injustice would carry in her voice or expression. It was quite a chore to try to walk quietly, as cloven hooves didn't translate to silence very well in civilized places with things such as floors and roads. But she managed to swallow her feelings at Cyburn's enslavement of a small child and offered the little girl a tentative smile.
The sound of arguing drew her attention, long ears twitching and turning towards the sound, followed by tilting her head up. "I'm not a guest, little one, I'm a captive," She addressed the child in a whisper, glancing down at her. It was hard to keep the sympathy from her expression, particularly as she adored the young of most creatures. "I suppose it's much the same to him, though."

The little girl seemed saddened by Kee's words and was quick to give Tyarnach a look of anger and betrayal. "Why?" She asked, clenching her grubby fists as she demanded an answer from Tyarnach, tears swelling in her eyes. All he could really do was stare at her before looking away and continuing on careful of where he placed his paws on the long rug. Though the child did not take such cautions, upset by the further hurt brought into the place.
"I'll tell him!" She shouted, loud enough that if Cyburn were not in an argument, he'd be able to hear. It caused Tyarnach to whirl and growl, before he glared at Kee. "Why did you say anything!?"

"It isn't his fault," Kee added firmly, her ears twitching once more at Tyarnach's growling. "Don't blame him, he saved me, initially. I'm a captive because of your Master's doings, nobody else's." She looked down at Tyarnach and frowned, "I didn't expect her to assume you were at fault, I thought she was your friend." Despite enjoying children, she didn't have a precise understanding of the workings of a child's mind. "And it didn't seem right to lie to her. Surely she at least deserves honesty in her life, given her situation."
She hadn't meant to upset either of them, though, and it was weighing heavily on her feelings about being in such a place. She tried to ignore the child's shout and hoped that Cyburn would not hurry to end his argument. "Your friend didn't do anything wrong, little one. Quite the contrary."

She quieted, feeling some kind of comfort in the spirit's calming presence, perhaps because there was no cruelty, and elves instinctively had a natural affinity with the natural world, unlike their human master. "He's going to hurt you." She whimpered, hanging back from the two and she would have stayed to chat if it wasn't for the sound of a slamming door and heavy footsteps coming down the staircase towards the hall where they all stood.
In the blink of an eye the young elven girl had vanished, presumably to be with her mother, neither of whom physically existed.

The disappearance was jarring, but there was little time to react to it with the footsteps approaching. She stole a glance at Tyarnach and wished briefly that she had something to say that would make her feel as if things would be all right. All she could manage to focus on, other than watching the staircase, was the thought of her goal in this place. The Creator had shown her a glimpse of what she needed to do, and somewhere the answers were with Cyburn.

Tyarnach couldn't help sooth Kee either and tucked his tail beside himself, his ears back. It was indeed Cyburn who approached, his hand red from violence. Though he stopped when he saw Tyarnach and then Kee, his anger dissolved with a cruel smile. "Now this indeed is something unexpected." He wore clothes different from the mages robes before, instead he wore a long fur coat, the head of a wolf still attached as it hung over his left shoulder. "I'll admit I'm surprised, but if you did this to make up for your betrayal pet, then I'd have to say it was a waste. You'll still be punished, though I appreciate your weak attempt." Leaning on the railing Cyburn stared Kee up and down, he had magic at his fingertips and knew she wouldn't dare pull anything after what he did to the spiders.

Kee at least met the mage's gaze, brown eyes hard. She did know how helpless she was at the moment, but the thought of the child's phantom from before helped steel her resolve a bit. "You're a twisted, cruel example of humanity," She told the mage quietly. "I don't know what you've done to draw a creature so far from nature that he can't be torn from you but briefly, but I will find out." It wasn't entirely a bluff, as Mystic's rain had worn off on Tyarnach before long, but she left out the details of the god's involvement, in the hopes she could at least ascribe some credit to his pet for her capture.

"Ah so you're the one responsible for that little stunt." Cyburn scoffed with a cold laugh having brushed off her insults. "Very clever, can't say I found it all that amusing though. But I don't blame him." The mage's feature softened as he stalked towards Tyarnach. He tenderly held a hand out towards the beasts nose, the action drew Tyarnach in almost robotically as if he was programmed to respond to it in such a way.
But the false care was quickly replaced Cyburn grabbed Tyarnach's horn and yanked him to his feet. "If he feels he no longer needs his master, that's fine, so be it. I'll give him a chance to reconsider." Kee's companion resisted a yelp or a whine, knowing it would only bring him more pain.
"So tell me, spirit, why follow him here? You're unharmed as far as I can tell and he did not drag you back here in just four days." The question was asked as if she had to pick between two answers, both resulting in some form of cruelty.

To see the creature that had protect her and treated her with a fair amount of kindness of course made her heart ache, and she resisted begging Cyburn to let him go for the same reason Tyarnach hadn't made a sound. "It seems he took a page out of your book. You can congratulate yourself on a job well done." It was easy to put anger in her voice when she spoke to the mage, but she did her best to direct some of that seething tone towards the captive beast. "He killed my friend. Those spiders you so selfishly wanted to burn or eat. They were in mourning and your... monster," She spat the word out venomously, glaring at Tyarnach, "Tore into the elder that I had formed my pact with. I told them he could be trusted and he made a liar of me."
Acting, she found, was not terribly hard as long as she focused on the memories of Cyburn's fires. It was easy to bring angry tears to her eyes and act betrayed as she recalled the death of the brave spiderlings. "I came peacefully so I could spare them, what little good it will do. They will never trust me entirely after that."
