''That is probably best.'' Tyarnach said back, somewhat relieved that she was awake. ''Provided that you are conscious enough to do so. I was concerned that in your attempt to run away you collided with a tree or something.''

"No, I..." She thought about lying, but shook her head against it. "I'm okay. It wasn't a tree, I, um... I upset the Creator. I suppose he was upset that I was running away instead of doing what I should've done. It's fair. Like he said, I'm an adult. I shouldn't have tried running." Her voice trembled slightly when she pressed on, "It's okay if I'm not your friend, but we're still going to have to work together. I'm going to tell you what I know, and what I suspect. Part of it came from Isa. The, ah, the little ghost girl? She really wanted a name, she told me, so I gave her one. Really, the basic truth is that, well, you're not actually... what you are." She gestured with her lone antler at his body. "That form isn't you. You look that way because of Cyburn, because of what he did to you."

He stated at her with seriousity for awhile but then couldn't help but laugh, "haha, you should have warned me, do you know how silly that sounds? I've always been this way for as long as I can remember, yes it's true that master Cyburn had made adjustments to me, but nothing to such an extent. Besides if he transformed me, why haven't I seen him do it to others, hmm?"

"No, Tyarnach," Kee replied sharply. "Perhaps he did do it to others, but Isa said his goal was a companion of sorts. He tried the process on her mother first, it wasn't successful. She was alive when he brought you to his home - as an elf, the same age as her. This isn't a joke. It'd be a poor one if it were." The more she said, the more she worried that at any moment his consciousness would unravel. "HOw far back do your memories go? You can't remember your parents or where you lived as a child, can you? I suspect such things were wiped away when he changed you. He even called you a mutant when I was down in that wretched room of his."

His master's degrading words and Kee's theories had put him down, sitting he curled his tail around his side and lowered his head. "I think we discussed something along this topic back in the forest. I do not remember my parents, if I had them, all I remember was seeing master's face for the first time. It was stormy and dark." That was his earliest memory and he was a pup back then. But the harder he thought the hazier things got.
"Mutant isn't the worst thing he's called me, I don't think he uses it in a literal sense, it's just an insult such as mongrel and mutt." It was almost denial, the idea that he was an elf was so silly, "that ghost child doesn't know any better than making up stories to explain things she doesn't understand. Master said she had no mother, that she was just an orphan slave he got for a few copper."

"Come now, you're smarter than that," Kee spoke in a gentler tone now, reaching out an tentatively touching the top of his head. "Cyburn wasn't a good person, by any means. He was a liar, and he was power-hungry. Isa was young, but not stupid. The things she said made sense. You weren't created in a lab. You were a rehashing of his failed experiment. Her mother's blood wasn't strong enough, and yours was. She saw these things for herself. I can't prove it to you, but think. What's more likely, that Cyburn would kidnap a child of strong blood and mutate them into a beast for his entertainment, or that Isa would lie about how she watched him performing horrid things on her mother, then on you? And about what he made you do to her?"

The point was strong but Tyarnach felt a heavy deal of guilt for what he did to Isa, who at the time lacked a name. The horrid way he killed her made his heart ache every time he thought about it. She was young and innocent, beaten and abused by their master, and in her final hours she was kicked about by the human and used as a toy for Tyarnach, who killed her by ripping out her throat after she had already lost other limbs.
He paled and shook his head, "I didn't want it to happen, but it did and now I have to live with it. No matter how much I blame master, it was my doing." Unaware that he was of pure ancient blood, Tyarnach didn't comment on the importance difference between Isa's mother, himself and Cyburn's success.

"I know you didn't. She knows she didn't, too. She said she didn't blame you for it. You have to live with your actions, but he isn't innocent, either. Much of the blame lays with him." Scooting up to his side, she brushed back the edge of his static-y mane and pet him gingerly, as he seemed to have enjoyed it once and she didn't like the feeling of upsetting him. "Nobody believes you wanted it to happen. But my point is that she did see what happened to you. She saw what you were before this. She saw the attempts that preceded it. I know it must be strange to think of when you have no memory of it, but this isn't your natural state. And there's... well, more to it."

"I can't believe it." He muttered, unmoving as the spirit's touched his his fur, "I can't recall anything, I can't see myself as anything else than what I am. I honestly... It's impossible." It wasn't like him to be so easily swayed but he was far away from Cyburn's influence and was capable of reason.
But perhaps he did not want to consider it, that his whole life had been a lie, that he missed out on a childhood or out there someone had actually loved him at one point and that he might have even had parents. "What else.. did the ghost tell you?" He asked, his voice nervous with fear.

His fear made her hesitate, and Kee let out only a touch of her magic to try to help soothe him, unwilling to use too much lest he think she was trying to control him. "It isn't something Isa told me, but something I learned recently as it is. That you may be heir to this race of elves. I don't know very much about all of this, truly. I can't imagine how frightening all these ideas may be, but... Well, it is the long and short of it, and you deserved the truth." Now she only had to worry about his reaction, and if she had once more made a foolish move by telling him all of this.

It wasn't exactly believable, perhaps he was an elf, but an heir, no. "I'm honestly not sure if I can believe this, you claim I am an elf and then an heir, the chances of me being an heir isn't exactly high and most certainly isn't....likely." He frowned, unaware of the magic that had kept him from a panic."And beides if I was that important I'm sure I'd have been well protected."

"I don't know how it all happened. Perhaps you're right, and I've been misled or misinterpreted things. It's a possibility, but even if you are not their heir, I have every reason to believe you are an elf. Were an elf, before Cyburn got his hands on you. All of the rest is still being figured out, and I can promise that I will not keep you in the dark. You have every right to know what I learn, as it's your identity, in the end." The spirit took her hand from his fur and sighed, flopping back in the leaves and staring up towards the tree tops. It was nice to be in a place where she could see sunshine poking through the red, gold, and orange colors.
"When the Creator, ah, was cross with me, he made a point. He can't keep wasting energy to guide me on every little change that I come across. The thing is, I'm not super certain of how things will turn out. We have a lot of trial and error before us before we find out the truth of it all. I could really use your help," She added the last sentence in a somewhat softer tone, "In facing whatever is ahead of us."

"You have my assistance. There's not much here for me, I'm far from home so we may as well travel in company" he said with a roll of his shoulders. "Though what made you think I was someone important? Cyburn would have to go through a lot of trouble for that." It seemed the possibility did make him curious, but it wasn't every day you were speculated to be the heir to the fastest falling races in the world. Elves had not had it good since the corruption came and like all magic based creatures they became fewer and few every year.

"I didn't know you would be important at first, only that I felt very strongly that I needed to help free you from Cyburn. The rest has fallen in to place, whether by fate or simply by luck. The Creator showed me things that I'm still learning the meaning to. And Cyburn... well, I suspect you being a potential heir to a dying race was part of the allure. He enjoys rare things, and to him, people are simply more complicated versions of objects." Her head lolled to the side and she closed her eyes, breathing in the crisp air of the forest. "Even if you don't think of me as a friend, I think of you as one. I wanted to help you because inside, I know you're a good person. You may be a bit rough in your attitude but you are kind and have the capacity to do great things."

Her talk of Cyburn's collection was true, and one such piece of evidence was the happiness he showed to having the spirit in his grasp. He loved anything worth a heavy some of money. "These are good points. But... What value would I be as what I am? Other than a fighter, I don't think my appearance is worth anything aside from being the only one of my kind." That was another thing that made Kee's far fetched speculation more likely, he had never seen a beast quite like him.
